“I was seriously thinking of visiting Guatemala…with people like you there I’ll go somewhere else.”

Umm, ok so what? What's this person's point? This is how it is here? Guatemalan's are just one minuscule notch above swinging in trees? My wife's father is a well known architect and builder in Guatemala as with his best friend. They do nothing of the sort. I can pick a thousand things that are done wrongly here to write about, but this does not apply to everyone or perhaps even most!
True this is ridiculous and we can see the problems with these workers techniques, but for Gods sake, stop cramming 1st world technology and safety in the faces of these people who are trying to survive.
Maybe CAFTA could have brought 1st world technology and safety procedures to the people here instead of creating a bidding war for huge US companies to rape and pillage and strip the Guatemalan developers of their work while pulling still more money out of their pockets and putting it right back in to the US.
And we wondered why the people of the CAFTA nations hated us and burned the US flag when this was agreed to.

Apparently Joe would rather attack the U.S. than smile at the obvious humor of the post. Joe might be one of those one-way angry liberals with no sense of humor, just a chip on his shoulder. Does Joe really think that we "rape and pillage"? If so, then perhaps he is his own worst problem.

Actually, I am probably one of the most conservative people you would ever meet Richard. Thanks though for the input. Indecently, yes I do.

But then again, I was refering to US companies, namely those like United Fruit. Interesting the mess they created down here.
